Green Bay/WI - USA

Responsibilities

In this role, you are responsible to ensure the technical infrastructure and continuous data flow needed for the integration of our shopfloor apps with our customers’ production lines. You report to FactoryPal’s Operations Leadership Team and work in close cooperation and alignment with the digital service and engineering team of our associated partner Körber Tissue - a world-leading tissue machine manufacturer based out of Green Bay, WI.

  • As IIoT Automation Engineer at FactoryPal you ensure the availability of all necessary data points in our web-application both for a standard set of data points in general and for each connected line individually.
  • You will consult with the FactoryPal team, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Körber Tissue as well as other OEMs, and our customers to identify simple, scalable and standardized connection concepts and keep it aligned in case of new machine features or other factors that might cause changes in the data set.
  • You are responsible for data acquisition from the PLC (reverse engineering) - holistically, from conception to implementation.
  • You coordinate closely with our customers in order to gain access to the system controls of various manufacturers and to transfer machine data into our applications.
  • You work closely with our gateway-connectivity-team to coordinate the IIoT hardware installation at customer’s site.
  • You provide service & support for existing installations of our solution under the coordination of FactoryPal’s service & support team.
  • You align with OEMs and our solution teams to identify and resolve issues during installation and operation of our solutions.
  • You work continuously to optimize and automate the data acquisition process - be it through process improvements, the establishment of architecture standards or the expansion and improvement of our toolbox.

Qualifications

  • You have a degree in engineering in the field of electrical engineering, automation technology or control technology – also with previous training.
  • You already have at least 5 years of practical experience as an automation engineer in industries with continuous production processes - e.g. paper, packaging, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods or else.
  • You have experience in working with OT architectures and PLC controls from various manufacturers (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.).
  • You have experience with Linux systems and IIoT gateways.
  • You are familiar in working with and developing OPC and OPC UA server setups and architectures.
  • You have a high level of social competence and good communication skills in dealing with customers and suppliers.
  • You are curious and willing to acquire knowledge about controls and machine network setups, you have not worked with so far, and increase thereby your knowledge in the field of IIoT.
  • You are passionate about contributing to developing new digital products.
  • You look forward to regular customer contact and are ready for (international) travel of up to 50%.
  • Your English is fluent, other language skills are a plus.
